• Are you on municipal or well water?
  After installing the water softener on municipal water, a water test should be performed to fine tune the hardness setting on the water softener.
• Are you experiencing any rust stains?
  Municipal water very rarely contains iron. By eliminating the concern for iron removal capacity, you eliminate the need to test the water for iron prior to buying a water softener. If you have an iron staining problem, test the water and check the iron removal rating for the water softener prior to making your purchase.
• Is this a new home?
  Many of today’s newer homes are being built with a 1” or larger main water supply line. This requires the use of a softener with a higher flow valve.
• How many people are in your home?
  Higher hardness removal capacity is necessary to handle high water consumption. In addition, higher water needs at a given time might necessitate the need for a higher flow valve.
